From shirtless strippers to costumed crimefighters, here are the biggest winners and losers of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

You win some, you lose some — and believe us, there were plenty of both at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

It was a night that ranged from the darkly comedic to the deeply sentimental, with plenty of poorly deployed penis jokes and tear-jerking speeches to be found throughout the show's two-hour runtime. Long story short: To say that this year's Movie Awards was eventful is an extreme understatement.

Keep reading for our list of all the winners and losers of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

Winner: Russell Brand
The show's producers claimed there were no limits on what he could say and who he could insult, and they were right: Brand was hilariously vicious in his free-flowing assault on the Movie Awards crowd, with highlights ranging from his constant call-outs of "Twilight" and "Hunger Games" to his self-deprecating, Katy Perry-referencing marriage gig. Indeed, he extended a marriage proposal to "X-Men" actor Michael Fassbender — speaking of whom ...

Loser: Michael Fassbender
It's always wonderful to lay eyes upon the Irish actor, but even his staunchest supporters have to admit that it just wasn't his night. Fassbender was on the receiving end of many a Fassmember joke, with Brand referencing his "huge, engorged talent" on multiple occasions. He even got his ass kicked onstage by "Prometheus" co-star Charlize Theron ahead of the Best Fight award. For "Shame," Michael.

Winner: "Twilight," "Harry Potter" and "Hunger Games" Fans
Can't we all just get along? It appears that the answer is yes, we can! All three of these powerhouse franchises walked away from the Movie Awards with wins in major categories. Surprising to few, "Hunger Games" led the pack with Best Male and Female Performance, Best Fight and Best On-Screen Transformation wins; "Potter" walked away with Best Cast and Best Hero; and "Breaking Dawn" snagged Movie of the Year and Best Kiss — the fourth year in a row for both, no less!

Loser: Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Taylor Lautner
Hanging onto that last point for a second longer — where the heck were these guys when KStew was begging for a smooch? Robert Pattinson was nowhere to be found at this year's show, and Kristen needed a kissing partner to accept her award. Her "Snow White" co-stars weren't around to help her out, paving the way for the erstwhile Jacob Black to finally make his move — but nada. All three of them struck out without swinging at a single pitch.

Loser: Shirtless Channing Tatum Fans
It was clear that "Magic Mike" himself wanted to take it all off when he co-presented the Best On-Screen Transformation award with Matthew McConaughey. Alas, it was not meant to be. Blame McConaughey, who was spot-on with his "thanks for ruining all the fun, Dad" impression. Jerk.

Winner: Shirtless Joe Manganiello Fans
Where Tatum fell short, Big Di-- Richie came through in a big way. Like, seriously big — grind-your-junk-all-over-Elizabeth-Banks levels of big. It was worth it for all the "Magic Mike" fans hurting for some manly goodness after Tatum's disappointing showing.

Loser: Mila Kunis' Heckler
Jennifer Aniston may have won Best On-Screen Dirtbag (sorry, Oliver Cooper), but it was the audience member who heckled presenter Mila Kunis who's truly most deserving of the award. His inaudible remarks visibly shook Kunis and very nearly prompted a physical reaction from her "Ted" co-star Mark Wahlberg. Anyone who attracts the ire of the Boston actor automatically lands on the loser list.

Winner: Mark Wahlberg's Restraint
In fact, let's give a shout-out to Wahlberg for not losing his cool and getting all medieval on the Kunis heckler's you-know-what. When Wahlberg caught up with MTV News after the incident, he explained his restraint: "I did say somebody was going to get slapped, but I figure it's Sunday, I went to church, I'm feeling forgiving right now." A far cry from the guy who appeared on "The Knife Show" two years ago.

Loser: Johnny Depp's Missing Gold Tooth
We kid, we kid. (Although we do hope Depp found that thing eventually.) True to Depp's unorthodox but awesome nature, the Generation Award winner accepted his new title by rocking out super hard alongside the Black Keys, delivering the single-most rocking performance of Movie Awards night — not an easy achievement considering the badass performances from Wiz Khalifa and Fun. earlier in the evening.

Winner: "The Dark Knight Rises" Fans
Listen, kids — we promised you some awesome, exclusive, never-before-seen footage from the Batman conclusion, and we did not disappoint. Let us recount the amazingness: Batman and Catwoman teaming up, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake interrogating Selina Kyle, Bane preventing anyone from entering Gotham City with a massive barricade of cars — and that's not even mentioning the presentation of the footage, which included a tear-felt acknowledgement of the late Heath Ledger and universal applause for "Dark Knight" steward Christopher Nolan. It was an epic, unforgettable way to salute what is arguably the greatest comic book movie franchise in history one last time.

Shailene Woodley's Movie Awards Win Causes 'A Waterfall Of Sweat'

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It was Shailene Woodley's first time at the MTV Movie Awards, and also her .

"The Descendants" star took home the Best Breakthrough Performance Golden Popcorn and commanded the stage during her acceptance speech. But it turns out she was actually much more nervous than she let on.

"I started sweating a whole lot. Like, a waterfall of sweat," she reminisced when MTV News caught up with her immediately after her win. "I don't even remember what happened, except for Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield's smiling, awesome faces. Thank God they were up there. I would have been so nervous."

Sure, Woodley was nominated for a number of prestigious awards thanks to her fantastic performance in "The Descendants," including a Golden Globe nom. But being invited to — and winning at — the MTV Movie Awards is still a big accomplishment in her life.

"It's the MTV Awards!" she gushed. "Let's be real. This is crazy."

It turns out that this was an especially great experience for Woodley because she is a huge Russell Brand fan. She called his "awesome" and then dove into her passion for his particular brand of comedy.

"He's one of my favorite comedians. I think he's just so effing funny, and I'm all about him and everything that he's saying. He's like a political, or like an anti-political activist, you know? And I really love his revolutionary thinking. I'm into it," she said. "[He has] a really profound message, and without being preachy."

'Dark Knight Rises' Movie Awards Footage: What We Saw

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 03:53 AM PDT

Brand-new footage gives fans terrifying insight into Bane, who may be Batman's most menacing enemy ever.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

After weeks of waiting, never-before-seen footage from "The Dark Knight Rises" debuted at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards, and no matter how much awesomely new material we saw, the clip could never be long enough.

Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and director Christopher Nolan were on hand to present the footage, and they did not let us down. The montage included brand-new scenes with Catwoman, more footage of the aerial vehicle, the Bat, and a terrifying shot of Bane, sure to stay burned in the collective memory of Batman fans.

Here's our take on the new "Dark Knight Rises" footage.

The Batcave
It may seem like a silly thing to look forward to when you consider all the action and chemically enhanced super villains in the film, but the Batcave will be making a welcome return for the final installment of Nolan's Batman trilogy. The secret lair took one movie off after it burned to the ground in "Batman Begins," but the newest footage from the movie shows the underground sanctuary up-and-running with a shiny, new Batsuit case to boot.

The Bat's Best Friend
The latest round of TV spots has shown us the more playful side to Nolan's take on Selina Kyle. Like any good version of Catwoman, she's going to tease Bruce Wayne, maybe play a little hard to get, but when it comes down to it, she isn't all that bad. The last trailer even showed her fighting alongside the Caped Crusader. In the MTV Movie Awards footage, the best part of the segment came when a frightened guard turned the corner to come face-to-face with Kyle, who gave him a little tip. "He's behind you," she said, of course referring to the upside down Batman, waiting to pounce. The clip made us incredibly excited to find out just how well these two work together.

"Let the Games Begin"
It appears that Bane has one thing on his mind: Taking Gotham for his own. It starts with the destruction of the football stadium during the Gotham Rogues game, and if the clip is any indication, Bane seems to be pretty successful in his takeover initially. We see his thugs dragging a man into a chair as if he's about to face the judge, jury and executioner. Men with guns freely roam the wintry streets of Gotham. The new footage makes us wonder just how bad things get before Batman is (hopefully) able to save the day.

That Shot Of Bane
You know the one. Near the very end of the segment, Batman and Bane charge at each other, like we've seen a dozen times before in trailers and TV spots. Only this time, Bane grabs Batman's fist as he tries to throw a punch, and the look on Tom Hardy's face is terrifying. It's the kind of look that instantly makes you believe Selina Kyle in the next scene when she says, "That you should be as afraid of him as I am." Believe us, Catwoman, we saw the look on his face. We're afraid.

'Harry Potter': An MTV Movie Awards History

Following Best Cast and Best Hero wins for final film, we look back at our favorite Movie Awards moments with the Boy Who Lived.
By Terri Schwartz

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — With its Best Cast and Best Hero wins at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the "Harry Potter" era in MTV history has come to a close.

MTV has been a fan of "Harry Potter" since the beginning. Literally. It's bittersweet to have to celebrate the series for the last time with the big wins for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," so we decided to take a look back at our favorite Movie Awards memories with The Boy Who Lived.

The series didn't earn its first Movie Award nominations until 2006, for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." It got nods for Best Hero (Daniel Radcliffe), Best On-Screen Team (Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) and Best Villain (Ralph Fiennes), but didn't take home any awards. "Potter" struck out yet again with "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" when it lost both Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen Yet in 2007 and Best Kiss (between Daniel Radcliffe and Katie Leung) in 2008.

There was a year of downtime between "Potter" nominations because the series didn't have a film come out in 2009, but that doesn't mean it wasn't represented at the Movie Awards. Radcliffe, Grint and Watson presented a "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" clip showing Dumbledore using the Pensieve to show Harry the first time he met Tom Riddle, who later would become Lord Voldemort.

It wasn't until 2010, when "Half-Blood Prince" was up for four awards, that the series took home its first Golden Popcorn. The film lost for Best Female (Watson), Best Male (Radcliffe) and Best Movie, but Tom Felton took home the award for Best Villain. That ended up being one of the most memorable acceptance speeches in recent Movie Awards history as Mark Wahlberg kept interrupting the young Brit while he was trying to talk.

Fans were duly outraged, but Wahlberg was quick to apologize to Felton backstage — and we caught it on tape! "We were only kidding," Wahlberg said, patting Felton on the back. "Sorry about that, great job. ... Thanks for being a good sport."

That year also marked the second time the Movie Awards showed a sneak peek of an upcoming "Potter" movie. We premiered a teaser trailer for both parts of "Deathly Hallows," which ended up being pretty freaking awesome.

Felton took home the series' second Golden Popcorn the next year (again for Best Villain), though "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" lost for Best Female, Best Kiss (Watson and Radcliffe), Best Male, Best Movie and Best Fight. That night was another memorable one for Felton, as Foo Fighters leading man Dave Grohl congratulated him on camera following his win.

One of the most talked about moments of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards was the premiere of the forest scene from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." It was one of the more chilling moments from the movie, and one that boded well for the final installment of the "Harry Potter" saga.

Fans were ultimately disappointed with the fact that "Potter" only took home one award in 2011, especially since it lost most of the Golden Popcorns to "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse." With the voting rules changed this year, that means that the competition in 2012 was less about a battle of the fandoms and more about the best movie winning.

In the end, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" didn't win every award it was up for this year. It lost for Best Fight, Best Female, Best Male, Best Kiss (Watson and Grint) and Best Movie, but at least won for Best Cast and Best Hero. At the end of the day, "Harry Potter" really does deserve both of those awards.

Fans could argue for hours over whether "Harry Potter" or "The Hunger Games" deserve the awards they won, but it seems fair to say that "Harry Potter" has consistently had one of the best ensemble casts in recent memory. It's not just Radcliffe, Watson, Felton and Grint who won the award, but everyone who participated in the series' eight films. As for the Best Hero win, considering that Harry defeated one of most evil beings of all time (you know, He Who Must Not Be Named), that's quite a heroic feat. Those seem like suitable thank-yous to the "Potter" crew for making one of the most beloved film franchises in movie history.

'Perks Of A Wallflower' Tunnel Scene Is 'Epic,' Ezra Miller Says

One of the most of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" trailer, which debuted during Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, shows Emma Watson standing in the back of a pickup truck while it speeds through a tunnel, her arms raised. It's echoed later in the trailer as Logan Lerman tentatively raises his own arms in the same action. According to their co-star Ezra Miller, it's going to be one of the best scenes in the film.

"When she, like, opens her arms and they had that thing, the ultimate arm, which is like this robotic arm extension off the top of a car, and they were like speeding by her to catch that — well, I don't want to give it away, I guess, but it's sick," he told MTV News on red carpet. "The tunnel scene is epic! That's what it was always supposed to be."

In addition to being excited about the film because he's involved in it, Miller said he was psyched about that scene because it was emotionally resonant in the novel. Miller was a fan of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" book since his teenage years.

"I grew up with this book, and so what the tunnel scene means for me is this whole [experience]," he said. "The tunnel scene, I mean, I've never shot anything like that. I've never been involved in anything like that. I haven't seen [the movie], but I remember watching it after we'd done it, or after the stunt crew had gone out really to do it with Emma and then with Logan, and watching it and just being like, it's just that thing of like, 'Why would I deserve to be at all affiliated with this thing that I didn't help to happen but is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on film.' "

Miller, Watson and Lerman were all on hand to present the trailer during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. They later took to the MTV Movie Awards stage to present the award for Best Male Performance to Josh Hutcherson. Watson also accepted awards on behalf of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" for Best Cast and Best Hero.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — On Sunday night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the cast of "Twilight" picked up a few more Golden Popcorn trophies to add to their collective mantle. In addition to winning Movie of the Year, they also won Best Kiss, marking fourth time the series has won in both categories.

"A little tired, a little surprised, honored to be up there with [presenter] Jodie Foster and honored to be in the ranking with a lot of amazing films this year," Jackson Rathbone told MTV News. "So thank you very much, world."

Given who they were up against in the Movie of the Year category, including "The Hunger Games," co-star Julia Jones actually wasn't sure they could win again. "There's a lot of competition this year, and I think for the first time I was like 'I don't know.' There's some really amazingly large franchises now," she said. "And I guess we're still winning."

Rathbone added, "As we're wrapping up, to have so much love still and you gave us a four-peat, so thank you. That's something that not a lot of people can say."

BooBoo Stewart went on to describe how "incredible" it felt to take the stage to accept the award. "Just to be up on that stage accepting an award, in front of everybody and feeling the love from the fans was really cool."

Nikki Reed said what was even more incredible was having Foster hand them the prize. "She put her hand out after we walked offstage and I just 'Oh my god, it's a real honor.' "

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The 2012 MTV Movie Awards only just ended, but we can't get over the epic onscreen performance/award presentation between the Black Keys and Johnny Depp. Not to mention the fact that they were introduced by rock gods Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith.

When MTV News caught up with the Keys themselves, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, backstage after their performance, we asked them how they were feeling after coming offstage.

"Super normal, that's a normal moment for us," Auerbach joked. "Yeah that's our normal lives, hanging out with rock stars and movie stars, you know. It was actually a little boring."

"I was trying to hold back yawns," added Carney.

We then tried to get to the bottom of how the unexpected collaboration came to fruition, but even the Keys themselves seemed to have no idea.

"I don't know, I think MTV has a random computer generator," Auerbach joked, with Carney chiming in, "It was supposed to be us and Regis Philbin, but we rejected it."

In all seriousness, the duo had nothing but praise for their guest star, particularly his preparation and skills on the guitar.

"He's a really good guitar player," Carney said.

"Yeah, no joke. He's a really good guitar player," Auerbach reiterated.

So now that they've played with one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, what other movie stars will the Keys be collaborating with in the future?

"Matthew McConaughey on bongos," Carney joked. "We're going to start a T. Rex cover band with Johnny Depp and Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Finn."

And now that they've finished their work for the night, will the guys be meeting up with Depp after the show?

"We're all going to go meet up at Señor Frog's or T.G.I. Friday's," Carney said with a sly smile. "Something low-key."

Russell Brand At Movie Awards: His Nine Funniest Jokes

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 09:56 AM PDT

From Twilight to Teen Mom, no pop-culture stone was left unturned.
By Terri Schwartz

Russell Brand hosts the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Russell Brand might have to host every MTV awards show from here on out!

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards were immediately off to a good start thanks to Brand's , and he kept the jokes rolling throughout the rest of the two-hour-long show. In honor of Brand's sharp witticisms, we've put together a list of his nine best jokes that kept us laughing long after he finished telling them.

Twilight! Hunger Games!
When Brand first walked out onto the Movie Awards stage and started yelling, " Twilight! Hunger Games!" we figured he was off Andy Samberg. Instead, as he said later in the monologue, he was using them because "these words generate goodwill." They certainly did, as he used them repeatedly over the course of the night.

It's the End of the World as We Know It
"Tonight is an important ceremony because according to the Mayans, the world will end in December this year," Brand pointed out. "If Earth hurtles into the sun and humanity is destroyed, we will all say as one: We had the MTV Movie Awards 2012 and it was worth it! " Yes we can, and yes we will.

Justin Bieber Is the Man
The first pop-culturally relevant moment Brand brought up in his opening monologue was Justin Bieber's recent attack on a member of the paparazzi. "Justin Bieber beat up a paparazzi. Well done, Justin!" he said. Brand went on to say that he didn't think he'd ever be able to hit Biebs if he fought him because the 18-year-old is "so pretty" that "even if he was attacking me, I think I would do a little orgasm." Well, to each his own.

Kann-Yay and Kim
Brand was quick to thank Kim Kardashian for making his short-lived marriage to Katy Perry not seem so bad in the scheme of things, but he then went on to beg the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star and her new boyfriend Kanye West — whose first name he repeatedly mispronounced "Kann-Yay" — to make a sex tape. "I think of Kim Kardashian as the Stanley Kubrick of sex tapes," Brand said. "They're always brilliant, but he only does one a decade."

Brand's Special "Grease" Tribute
Nothing was off limits during the Movie Awards, not even John Travolta's recent sex scandal. After saying that "Rock of Ages" is the best movie since "Grease," Brand said he honored that film by giving Travolta a massage. "He needed it, man. He was so stiff, I'm telling ya!" Brand said.

Michael Fassbender and His Penis
He claimed he never noticed Fassbender's "huge, engorged talent as I was staring at his massive co--." That must have been why he decided the "Prometheus" star was going to be the next celebrity he married following hosting an MTV awards show. Sorry, Katy!

Taking Advantage of Charlie Sheen's Old Addictions
Charlie Sheen was a great sport during Brand's opening monologue, especially since the Brit repeatedly took jabs at the "Anger Management" star's recent problems. "I've taped a bottle of Hennessy and a gram of coke under your chair. In case I start going crazy, just nick it and do a couple of lines. Release the tiger blood hero!" Brand said to resounding laughter.

Our New Host: Julianne Hough's Nephew
One of the best parts of the night came when a behind-the-scenes shot showed Brand coaching Julianne Hough's nephew and date for the night to replace him as host. According to Brand, all you need to do to be a great Movie Awards host is talk about farts a lot. And the cutest part is that it was all improvised"!

"Teen Mom" Vs. "Teen Wolf"
As you probably realized once the 2012 MTV Movie Awards wrapped, the show wasn't followed by "Teen Mom," but rather by the season-two premiere of "Teen Wolf." Whoops! We can't tell if his gibes at "Teen Mom" instead of "Wolf" were intentional or a mistake, but we still can't get over his joke, "Do stay tuned after the show for the new season of Teen Mom, where pregnant women are laughed at for money!"

WATCH: Charlie Sheen Crashes Adam Sandler Movie Awards Interview

It was an unofficial and unexpected passing of the 'Anger Management' torch between Sheen and Sandler backstage with MTV News.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — All manner of Golden Popcorn trophies were passed around on the stage of the Gibson Amphitheatre at the MTV Movie Awards this year, but there were plenty of wins to be found behind the scene as well — such as the one between comedy titans Adam Sandler and Charlie Sheen.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz spoke with Sandler, Andy Samberg and Leighton Meester backstage at the Movie Awards and asked them all about their upcoming comedy "That's My Boy." The hard-R-rated comedy has been a hot topic in our circle all week long (we hosted an exclusive premiere of "That's My Boy" during Sneak Peek Week, you'll recall), and this was one of our first opportunities to speak with Sandler about the flick — but the Happy Madison founder left it to his younger co-star Samberg to summarize what fans can expect from the film.

"Do you like raucous rock-and-roll humor that makes you whizz your pants with laughter? Then maybe you should see this movie," the former "SNL" star advised.

Speaking of raucous rock-and-roll humor, the "That's My Boy" interview reached an abrupt conclusion when party boy Charlie Sheen, on hand to bestow Instant Cult Classic status upon found-footage party movie "Project X," unexpectedly showed up to meet and greet his old friend, Sandler.

"Charlie!" Sandler happily reacted. "Me and Charlie, baby! Good to see you!"

Sheen, subdued but pleased, embraced his old pal and kept chatting with him as he passed by. "I gotta go get assigned to my seat, man," he said. "Are you here all night?"

While the two were speaking, Samberg couldn't help but observe a secret connection between the reunited actors: Sheen is starring in an adaptation of "Anger Management," Sandler's 2003 comedy of the same name.

"This is as exclusive as it gets, you guys," Samberg laughed at the camera. " 'Anger Management' franchise much?"

When Sandler returned to the "That's My Boy" interview, he laughingly brushed off the jabs Samberg was sending his way. "Charlie and I were hanging," he grinned. "What do you need from me? That's an old friend! We're old friends, man! You're new friends!"

"Un-be-ree-vable," Samberg said with feigned disappointment.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CaliforniaEmma Watson and Logan Lerman for Movie Awards Best Kiss in 2013? It could happen!

The two actors, along with co-star Ezra Miller, were on hand at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards pre-show to introduce the first trailer for their coming-of-age film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," an adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's 1999 novel published by MTV Books. The story centers around introverted Charlie (Lerman), who's lured out of his shell by step-siblings Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller) and introduced to a world of sex, drugs and, of course, rock and roll.

Charlie nurses an unrequited crush on newfound friend Sam throughout most of the narrative. And while the trailer only hinted at a few tender moments shared between the two characters, you better believe there will be some lip-locking to be had when the movie hits theaters September 14. And according to Lerman, those scenes weren't too hard to handle.

"It happened in front of a crew, and people were there, and we did it a few times. And that was it," Lerman recalled of his cinematic smooch with Watson. "It's kind of odd when you're doing it for a movie. It's kind of weird. She's cool. It wasn't as awkward as it could have been. It's Emma Watson, so I'm a lucky guy."

Yet, Lerman couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like had his impressions of the moment been less than savory.

"What if I was complaining, though? 'Oh, God. I had to kiss that girl!' " he joked.

We have a feeling a number of actors would have been happy to take your place, Logan.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Before Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey graced the 2012 MTV Movie Awards stage with their memorable presentation of the Best On-Screen Transformation award and utterly distracted us, MTV News caught up with Tatum on the red carpet to check in on an entirely different subject.

We wanted to know the status of the recently rescheduled release of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."

"I don't know. Truly," Tatum said when asked if the rumors we'd see more of him in the revamped sequel are true. "I haven't seen the movie. I did my part and then all this stuff is going on, so they haven't come to talk to me about anything. They talk about a lot of stuff; who knows if it's the industry or the actual studio? You never know."

But everything is better with a little more of the "Magic Mike" star in it, right?

"Sometimes? I don't know," Tatum said. "You have to have the exact right amount of Chan."

"Duh," Tatum's lovely wife, Jenna Dewan, answered for her husband. "I say yes."

So no matter our desire for more Tatum, the official studio line on the push-back is that Paramount wants to convert the film into 3-D. They made the move in hopes that adding three dimensions will translate to more impressive international box-office numbers.

"We're going to do a conscientious 3-D job, because we've seen how it can better box office internationally," an unnamed studio exec recently said of the switch. "Jim Cameron did all of 'Titanic's' 3-D in post — and look how well that movie turned out."

Other reports indicated that Tatum's star is now shining too bright to kill his character off early on in the film, as was originally rumored and only partially confirmed by Duke himself.

"G.I. Joe: Retaliation" is scheduled to open March 29, 2013.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Although Wiz Khalifa definitely brought a party to the stage with his 2012 MTV Movie Awards performance, would you believe that the "Work Hard, Play Hard" rapper almost didn't make it to the show?

As it turns out, just hours before Wiz was scheduled to perform, the Pittsburgh native was stranded at the airport in Dallas.

"I was worried [I wasn't going to make it]. I don't know what happened. I think my plane got [blown] the wrong way so we had to, like, make it go back the right way."

When asked when he actually arrived in Universal City, the rapper responded, "Just now actually," adding that he wasn't too worried about cutting it close; he knew he'd make it in on time.

We then asked his fiancée, Amber Rose, if she was worried about her man getting to the show on time.

"No, he always makes it," she said, clearly experienced with Khalifa's close-call arrivals. "I was here actually, waiting for him."

So how exactly did Khalifa make it from the airport to our show in such a timely manner? Did they have to enlist a police escort?

"No, no, I'm already on my own little cloud that I float in on," Khalifa said sincerely. "So I rode that."

2012 MTV Movie Awards Glory Shared By 'Hunger Games,' 'Twilight'

Plus: Johnny Depp and Emma Stone get career awards, and 'Dark Knight Rises' footage makes its debut.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — When you promise to fuel your hosting gig at the MTV Movie Awards with flatulence, where is there, really, to climb from there? Luckily, veteran MC Russell Brand had plenty of rope, taking the stage for the 2012 edition of the awards dressed like a punk-rock preacher and skewering friends and fellow celebrities on a night when three of the most iconic casts of the generation duked it out for supremacy.

There were some wins for the new kids on the block from "The Hunger Games" and the O.G. "Harry Potter" cast, but the night belonged to the cool kids from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," who snagged the Best Movie prize.

"Thank you so much you guys," said a humble Kristen Stewart, surrounded by much of her cast, before telling all those who think she's elated to be finally stepping away from the iconic role of Bella Swan to just "shut up."

The serious business couldn't get under way, though, until Brand had his way.

Dinged in the past for piling on the Jonas Brothers, the tart-tongued English comedian turned the beat around and thanked the newest member of the paparazzi-scuffle fraternity to the fold: "Well done, Justin!" he said of young Bieber, before imagining what jail might be like for the boy wonder. Brand hit the hard stuff early, joking that if you think after recent events, "It's hypocritical of me to joke about a celebrity beating up a paparazzi, wait till you hear what I have to say about short-lived celebrity marriages." Ouch.

And then it was time to get to business. It takes some serious screen mojo to beat out Ryan Gosling, Daniel Radcliffe and Channing Tatum, but "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson battled his way into a win in the Best Male Performance category for the night's first prize. "Oh my God," he exclaimed when he got his hands on the hardware. "I've wanted to hold a Golden Popcorn since I was, like, 4 years old," he said.

It looked like it was going to be a "Hunger Games" night, and who better than "Twilight" star Stewart to announce a win for Katniss herself, Jennifer Lawrence, in the Best Female Performance category? "I want to thank Suzanne Collins for creating such an iconic, powerful character in Katniss Everdeen. It's been an absolute honor to portray her," an absent Lawrence said.

"Horrible Bosses" star Jennifer Aniston
scooped up the Best Onscreen Dirtbag honor for a part of her acting portfolio she said she's been waiting forever to unleash. The ladies were in the house early, as Shailene Woodley snagged Breakthrough Performance for her totally believable turn as a sullen, frustrated teen in "The Descendants."

No actor of this generation has brought more twisted, unforgettable characters to life than Johnny Depp. From Captain Jack Sparrow, to Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Hunter S. Thompson and Willy Wonka, Johnny Depp is the reason the MTV Generation Award exists: to honor actors whose fearlessness is matched only by their coolness. He proved it by sitting in on rhythm guitar with the Black Keys for a rumble through "Gold on the Ceiling" and then jokingly comparing the Golden Popcorn honor to a "get out of the business" trophy. "All right, you've done too much and clearly based on the clips there's obviously something wrong with me," he said, guitar still dangling around his neck.

Another career kudos went to Emma Stone, recipient of the first Trailblazer Award, for her wide comedic and dramatic range in everything from "Super Bad" to "Easy A," "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "The Help." Admittedly weepy and armed with the dictionary definition of "trailblazer," Stone said, "the only thing I can hope that something like this award inspires is originality."

Harry Potter, the "21 Jump Street" kid gang, the brutal "Warrior" beat down and the high-flying "Mission Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," all duked it out for Best Fight, but it was Lawrence, Huthcherson and their "Hunger Games" co-star, Alexander Ludwig, who were left standing when the popcorn was handed out.

In a rare break with historic protocol, Best Kiss went to, so weird, an opposite-sex couple. You can't knock the Romeo and Juliet of dysfunctional vampire love, Stewart and Robert Pattinson
, though. RPattz was elsewhere, so Kristen had to fly solo, calling out for her new "Snow White" beau, huntsman Chris Helmsworth, to kindly do the honors. Or at the very least Charlize Theron, Taylor Lautner, or anyone, really. "This really means a lot and thank you guys very much for giving us best kiss again," she said.

You can eat all the pie you want, battle as many mythical creatures as CGI artists can cook up, infiltrate any high school in the country or battle to the death, but if anyone thought they were going to hunt down the ensemble of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" in the Best Cast category, well, chill with the butter beer, will ya? Emma Watson accepted the award for her castmates, giving them all shout-outs, with special ones reserved for her two main men, Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

There's a first time for everything and Elizabeth Banks broke the seal on the Best On-Screen Transformation category, for her role as brightly-hued, morally suspect Capitol "Hunger Games" chaperone Effie Trinket.

The night also featured the enshrining of "Project X" into the instant cult classic movie category, honoring the party-out-of-control flick released earlier this year for ticking off all the degenerate prerequisites to join the likes "Animal House," "The Hangover," "Revenge of the Nerds," "American Pie" and "Get Him to the Greek" in midnight movie heaven.

The festivities opened with a majestic sugar pop sing-along with fun. to their megahit "We Are Young," which had stars from Elizabeth Banks and Jennifer Aniston to Vanilla Ice and Channing Tatum bopping along.

Mark Wahlberg Felt 'Forgiving' Toward Mila Kunis Movie Awards Heckler

'Some random heckler in the crowd said something vulgar to Mila, so that's why I got a little upset,' 'Ted' star tells MTV News backstage.

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards got off to an unexpected start when "Ted" co-stars Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg took the stage to present the night's first award, Best On-Screen Dirtbag.

"Throughout history, dirtbags have succeeded at rising to the top of their industry," Kunis started before being unexpectedly interrupted by a man in the audience. What he yelled was largely inaudible, however, the interference shocked the Golden Globe-nominated "Black Swan" starlet.

"Really?" she asked, clearly annoyed at having been interrupted.

That's when Wahlberg, never a man to be messed with, stepped in. "Excuse me," he said. Unsure what the man had yelled, he turned to Kunis and continued, "What'd he say?"

When MTV News caught up with Wahlberg backstage, he explained the situation from his perspective, but said he was going to let the slight slide this time.

"When I came onstage, some random heckler in the crowd said something vulgar to Mila," he told our Josh Horowitz. "So that's why I got a little upset. I did say somebody was going to get slapped, but I figure it's Sunday, I went to church, I'm feeling forgiving right now."

Looking to press forward during the moment, Kunis attempted to hold off the tough-guy actor, telling Wahlberg, "Doesn't matter, go ahead."

It's a good thing she did: The muscle-bound star seemed ready to defend his co-star. "And here I thought I was gonna have to slap Russell," Wahlberg joked of host Russell Brand's famously biting humor before moving on to present the Best On-Screen Dirtbag prize to Jennifer Aniston for her performance as a harassing dentist in "Horrible Bosses."

The cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" took the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards to introduce an exclusive clip from the hotly anticipated summer blockbuster, but things took an unexpectedly emotional turn following a montage of director Christopher Nolan's first two "Batman" films, which included scenes of the late Heath Ledger's iconic performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight."

At the clip's conclusion, Christian Bale, flanked by his co-stars Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stepped up to the mic and said, "Wow, great to remember Heath at that moment. Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there."

The Oscar-winning actor then lowered his head and appeared to get choked up as the audience applauded for Ledger, who died in January 2008 at age 28 from an acute intoxication from the combined effects of several prescription medications. A few months after his passing, "The Dark Knight" arrived in theaters to critical acclaim and enormous box-office success.

Ledger's performance in "The Dark Knight" won the actor a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

After stepping back from the mic for a moment of silence, the actor wiped his nose and soldiered on. "The final chapter of 'The Dark Knight' has been written," he continued, before deferring to Gordon-Levitt, who brought Nolan onstage to introduce the exclusive new peek at "The Dark Knight Rises."

'Dark Knight Rises' Exclusive Footage Premieres At Movie Awards

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 09:34 AM PDT

Christopher Nolan himself took the stage to premiere footage from his final Batman film, premiering in July.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Tom Hardy as Bane in "Dark Knight Rises"

You waited patiently for your glimpse at never-before-seen footage from the final film of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, "The Dark Knight Rises," and it did not disappoint.

The movie's stars Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christian Bale took the stage at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards to briefly look back at everything that has come before this final chapter and then took one last look ahead before the movie hits theaters on July 20.

The first montage featured some of the most iconic images from both "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," including several scenes featuring Heath Ledger as the Joker, a sight which triggered an emotional shout-out from Bale.

Then it was time for the master himself, Christopher Nolan, to take the stage and present a ton of never-before-seen clips from his final trip to Gotham City. The director emphasized that his work over the past nine years was to tell a great story, and for that to be true, he needed to have a great ending. That is what Nolan is trying to do with "The Dark Knight Rises," which seems more and more like the definitive end to this Batman tale.

The footage opened with a scene featuring Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway as John Blake and Selena Kyle, respectively. Blake is a Gotham beat cop, and Kyle is the notorious burglar known as Catwoman, who insists, "A girl's got to eat."

The rest of the montage showed off a lot of new material featuring Batman, his nemesis Bane and the all-out war that's about to take place on the streets of Gotham.

One of the most pleasant surprises from the footage comes when a scared henchman is face-to-face with Selena Kyle in her Catwoman outfit. "He's behind you," she says, at which point, the crony turns around to find Batman upside down.

With all of its new reveals of Batman and the final struggle ahead of him, the package amounted to one amazing look at a movie we simply cannot wait to see.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CaliforniaEmma Stone became the first-ever MTV Trailblazer at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (June 3).

"The Amazing Spider-Man" actress was on hand to accept for special Golden Popcorn, which celebrates her diverse résumé of films, including "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "The Help." But before Stone even hit the stage, a few of her castmates — Steve Carell, Anna Farris, Jim Carrey, Octavia Spencer, Mila Kunis and Jason Sudeikis — recalled some of her best moments and joked about some of her worst qualities in a pre-taped video message.

While the clip had viewers laughing, Stone couldn't hold back the tears as she accepted her prize.

"Thank you, I'm a crier," she said. "So, I looked up the actual definition of trailblazer, and it means someone who blazes a trail to be followed by others. And that's an honor to hear you're being associated with a concept like that.

"But the only thing I can hope that an award inspires is originality," she added, "because the trailblazers I've looked up to and been inspired by are people like Gilda Radner and Bill Murray and John Candy and Charlie Chaplin and the Beatles and J.D. Salinger. Lorne Michaels, who reminds me the importance of comedy, and Cameron Crowe, whose work consistently reminds me of why I want to be an actor."

After thanking her icons, Stone offered some inspiration to others.

"Those people are my creative trailblazers, but I'm not following any of their paths, and what's incredible about them is they help make me want to be more myself because they're all originals," she said. "And I hope that you'll find your trailblazers. And, trust me, I do not need to be one of them. I probably shouldn't be one of them," she laughed. "But that you'll continue to harness your own originality and what makes you unique 'cause I know that when you're a teenager — sometimes when you're an adult — what sets you apart can sometimes feel like a burden and it's not. And a lot of the time, it's what makes you great. So I kind of sound like I live in a van down by the river right now.

"But I am deeply touched and grateful for this," she said in closing.

This is Stone's second MTV Movie Award. She previously won for Best Comedic Performance for her turn in "Easy A" at the 2011 telecast.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It was a pair of four-peats for "The Twilight Saga" at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, as the vampire romance not only took home Best Kiss, but the night's big award — Best Movie — as well.

The flick beat out fellow contenders "The Hunger Games," "Bridesmaids," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" and "The Help" for its fourth consecutive Golden Popcorn in the category.

Stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and producer Wyck Godfrey took the stage to accept the award from presenter and Stewart's "Panic Room" co-star, Jodie Foster.

"Thank you so much, you guys, I know I always say the same thing," Stewart said. "I've been promoting 'Snow White,' and I get asked a lot of questions, especially about 'Twilight,' which I love. The most common is, like, 'God, you must be so happy to get away from it. You must be so happy to distance yourself from it as far away as you possibly can.' And I'm like, 'Shut up! What are you talking about?' I know we've been here for a while, so really, thank you very much."

"We really have so many people to thank, not only for this award but for the past few years," Lautner chimed in. "But first and foremost, we have to thank you guys. I want to thank the whole entire cast and crew for their hard work and passion on this. Our producers, Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt. Our incredible director Bill Condon, all of Summit Entertainment. And I forgot a big one, the creator of this thing, producer and author Stephenie Meyer. I'm so excited for you guys to see the last and final part of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' in theaters November 16."

'Magic Mike' Stars Give Elizabeth Banks Movie Award ... And More

Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey get friendly as they present Banks with the Best On-Screen Transformation award.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The cast of "Magic Mike" made the Best On-Screen Transformation award all about the presentation. It was Elizabeth Banks who took home the Golden Popcorn for her phenomenal (and almost unrecognizable) turn as Effie Trinket in "The Hunger Games," but it was Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and surprise announcer Joe Manganiello who caught our — and Banks' — attention.

In the middle of their revelation, Manganiello took to the stage half-naked wearing a firefighter stripper outfit and sporting an axe, which he tended to use in a very phallic manner. He presented his "Magic Mike" co-stars with the winner card, and it was then that the three of them presented Banks with her Movie Award.

Turns out, Banks was more excited about the way her award was presented than the actual one that she won.

"I just want to thank MTV for this moment right here. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, MTV," she said as Tatum, Manganiello and McConaughey danced against her. "This is just the best moment of my life."

Banks went on to thank director Gary Ross, her "transformation team" — Ve Neill, Linda Flowers and Judianna Makovsky — and her husband.

"[He] comes with me everywhere and is really upset right now, probably," she said with a laugh. "Sweet. Thank you!"

He probably was even more upset about the fact that she was carried off the stage in Manganiello's arms.

Banks beat out Colin Farrell ("Horrible Bosses"), Johnny Depp ("21 Jump Street"), Michelle Williams ("My Week with Marilyn") and Rooney Mara ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") for the award. This is one of four wins "The Hunger Games," including Best Male and Female Performances and Best Fight.
